BASSARTS was created in 2002 by Forrest Bass to help raise money for Vascular Disease research. BASSARTS also does work to support REALITY CHECK which is a group that informs kids about the dangers of smoking and to be aware that they are the target market for the majority of tobacco advertising. At the age of 12 Forrest was diagnosed with a particular vascular disease called "Generalized Essential Telangiectasia". This is currently a chronic, progressive and incurable disease. It is briefly taught in medical school and barely researched because it only affects 1 in every 100,000 people. In the world population of billions that equals many suffering people. In its advanced levels can cause extreme pain and crippling of extremities while covering the body with burst capillaries.
